“Many emergency departments are dealing with nursing shortages right now, which makes training and education even more important,” ENA Account Executive Amanda Villoria said.

The Ultrasound Lab will host seven one-hour sessions on Sept. 22, from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and six one-hour sessions on Sept. 23, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Separate registration is required for this event, and slots are still available each day.

Each session features ultrasound assessments and needling techniques to support the use of ultrasound-guided peripheral access. Attendees will rotate through two hands-on stations to gain awareness and procedural confidence for device insertion in patients with difficult venous access. These stations will focus on leading the needle and essentials for ultrasound assessment.

The Cadaver Lab’s two sessions on Sept. 23 are sold out with eight tables – one cadaver per table – of six people, totaling 48 participants reviewing cadaver anatomy and how it relates to regular procedures performed in emergency medicine. Attendees will learn to use different tools and practices to stop patient bleeding, fundamental and advanced airway interventions, and vascular access tactics.

These educational labs are hosted in collaboration with Teleflex, a global provider of medical technologies and ENA Corporate Engagement Council partner.

“Teleflex has been an excellent long-term strategic partner for ENA, and the relationship has been proven valuable for training and educating our membership through events like the Ultrasound and Cadaver Labs,” Villoria said.

For those unable to attend the labs at Emergency Nursing 2023, ENA and Teleflex are partnering to bring ENA Learning Studio – Powered by Teleflex to local state and chapter meetings. Details of upcoming events, including registration links, can be found here.
